Elevated: Toamasina to Archdiocese

The diocese of Toamasina, Madagascar was elevated to a Metropolitan Archdiocese with the following suffragan dioceses: Ambatondrazaka, Fenoarivo Atsinanana, and Moramanga.

Archbishop-designate Désiré Tsarahazana, the existing ordinary, was named its first Archbishop.
