Cardinal Ambrozic Died

Aloysius Matthew Cardinal Ambrozic, Archbishop Emeritus of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, has died.

He was 81 years old and had served as a priest for 56 years. He had also served as a bishop for 35 years and as a cardinal for 13 years.

May he rest in peace.

The diocese had been vacant since then-Bishop Guire Poulard was named Archbishop of Port-au-Prince in January 2011.

Bishop Langlois had been serving as Bishop of Fort-Liberté.

Archbishop Joseph Chennoth was named Apostolic Nuncio to Japan

The post had been vacant since Archbishop Alberto Bottari de Castello was named Apostolic Nuncio to Hungary in June 2011.

Archbishop Chennoth had been serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Tanzania.

Bishop Roland Aboujaoudé (Auxiliary Bishop) and Bishop Samir Mazloum (Curial Bishop) retired and Bishop-elect Hanna Alwan, M.L. and Bishop-elect Camille Zaidan were confirmed as Curial Bishops of Antiochia {Antioch} (Maronite), Lebanon.

Bishops-elect Alwan and Zaidan were named titular bishops of Sarepta dei Maroniti and Ptolemais in Phoenicia dei Maroniti, respectively.

Hesse retired, Panfilo succeeded as Rabaul Archbishop

Archbishop Karl Hesse, M.S.C. retired and Archbishop Francesco Panfilo, S.D.B. succeeded as Archbishop of Rabaul, Papua New Guinea.

Archbishop Panfilo had been serving as Coadjutor Archbishop of the same archdiocese.

Musarò named Cuba Nuncio

Archbishop Bruno Musarò was named Apostolic Nuncio to Cuba.

The post had been vacant since Archbishop Giovanni Angelo Becciu was named Substitute (Sostituto) of the Secretariat of State in May 2011.

Archbishop Musarò had been serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Peru.
