Cardinal Saldarini Died

Giovanni Cardinal Saldarini, Archbishop Emeritus of Torino {Turin}, Italy, has died.

He was 86 years old and had served as a priest for 63 years. He had also served as a bishop for 26 years and as a cardinal for 19 years.

May he rest in peace.

Cepeda Escobedo named Detroit Auxiliary

Bishop-elect José Arturo Cepeda Escobedo was named Auxiliary Bishop of Detroit, Michigan, USA and titular bishop of Tagase.

He was born in Mexico and had been serving as a priest in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, Texas.

He will be the youngest USA bishop when consecrated on 5 May, just 10 days before he turns 42. He will be the 9th youngest bishop worldwide.
