Paul Joseph Jean Cardinal Poupard was named President of the
Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue while retaining the Presidency of the
Pontifical Council for Culture. The former President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue was
Archbishop Michael Louis Fitzgerald, M. Afr. who was named Apostolic Nuncio to the
Arab Republic of Egypt last month.
