Contreras Llajaruna named Callao Auxiliary

Bishop-elect Miguel Ángel Contreras Llajaruna, S.M. was named Auxiliary Bishop of Callao, Peru and titular bishop of Babra.

This is the first bishop appointment of Pope Leo XIV who had served as Apostolic Administrator of this same diocese from Apr 2020 to May 2021.

Pope Francis has Died

Pope Francis (Jorge Mario Bergoglio, S.J.), Bishop of Rome, has died.

He was 88 years old and had served as Pope for 12 years (elected 13 March 2013). He had served as a bishop for 32 years and as a priest for 55 years.

May he rest in peace.

Archbishop Udaigwe had been serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka.
