Gallaro named Oriental Churches Secretary

Giorgio Demetrio Gallaro was named Secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches and given the personal title of archbishop.

The post had been vacant since Archbishop Cyril Vasil’, S.J. was named Apostolic Administrator of Košice (Slovakian), Slovakia in January 2020.

Archbishop Gallaro had been serving as Bishop of Piana degli Albanesi (Italo-Albanese), Italy.
