Archbishop Giuseppe De Andrea retired and Archbishop-designate Paul-Mounged El-Hachem was named Nuncio to Kuwait, Bahrain, Yemen, and Qatar as well as titular archbishop of Darnis. Archbishop De Andrea had been serving as a nuncio for 4 years. Archbishop-designate El-Hachem had been serving as Bishop of Baalbek-Deir El-Ahmar (Maronite) since 1995.
Lucibello named Nuncio to Turkey and to Turkmenistan
Archbishop Antonio Lucibello was named Apostolic Nuncio to Turkey and Turkmenistan. He had been serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Paraguay.
de Kok retired as Utrecht Auxiliary
Bishop Johannes Antonius de Kok, O.F.M. retired as Auxiliary Bishop of Utrecht, Netherlands. He had been serving as a bishop for 23 years.

Mwalunyungu retired, Msemwa succeeded as Tunduru-Masasi Bishop
Bishop Magnus Mwalunyungu retired and Bishop Castor Paul Msemwa succeeded him as Bishop of Tunduru-Masasi, Tanzania. Bishop Mwalunyungu had been serving as bishop for 13 years. Bishop Msemwa had been serving as Coadjutor Bishop since December, 2004.

Archbishop-elect Pierre Nguyên Van Tot was named Apostolic Nuncio to Central African Republic and Chad. He had been serving as Apostolic Nuncio to Benin and Togo. He remains titular archbishop of Rusticiana.
Pescarolo retired, Cavallotto named Cuneo and Fossano Bishop
Bishop Natalino Pescarolo retired and Bishop-elect Giuseppe Cavallotto was named Bishop of Cuneo and Fossano, both in Italy. Bishop Pescarolo had been serving as a bishop for 15 years. Bishop-elect Cavallotto had been serving as a priest of Asti.
Sartori retired, Peruzzo named Palmas-Francisco Beltrao Bishop
Bishop Agostinho José (Benito) Sartori, O.F.M. Cap. retired and Bishop-elect José Antônio Peruzzo was named Bishop of Palmas-Francisco Beltrão, Parana, Brazil. Bishop Sartori had been serving as bishop for 35 years. Bishop-elect Peruzzo had been serving as a priest of Cascavel.

Bishop Firmin Martin Schmidt, O.F.M. Cap., Bishop Emeritus of Mendi, Papua New Guinea, has died. He retired in 1995 after having served as the ordinary (as Prefect, Vicar Apostolic, and finally Bishop) of Mendi for 35 years. May he rest in peace.

Archbishop Dominic Vendargon, Archbishop Emeritus of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has died. He was just a few weeks from his 96th birthday. He resigned in 1983 after having served as a bishop for 28 years. May he rest in peace.
