de la Torre Martín named Aguascalientes Bishop
Bishop José María de la Torre Martín was named Bishop of Aguascalientes, México. The diocese had been vacant since the death of Bishop Ramón Godinez Flores in April 2007. Bishop de la Torre Martín had been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of Guadalajara.
Gallela named Cuddapah Bishop
Bishop-elect Prasad Gallela was named Bishop of Cuddapah, India. The diocese had been vacant since Bishop Doraboina Moses Prakasam was named Bishop of Nellore in December 2006.
da Silva Mendes named Lisboa Auxiliary
Bishop-elect Joaquim Augusto da Silva Mendes, S.D.B. was named Auxiliary Bishop of Lisboa, Portugal and titular bishop of Caliabria.

Slovakia (Byzantine) Reorganization
The Eparchy of Prešov (Prjašev) was elevated to a metropolitan Archdiocese. Bishop Ján Babjak, S.J., the ordinary, was named its first Archbishop.
The Exarchate of Košice was elevated to a Diocese. Bishop Milan Chautur, C.SS.R., the ordinary, was named its first Bishop.
The Diocese of Bratislava was erected and Bishop-elect Peter Rusnák was named its first Bishop.
The two new Dioceses become suffragans of the new Archdiocese.
