José Cardinal Saraiva Martins, C.M.F. was named Cardinal-Bishop of Palestrina.

The post had been vacant since the death of Bernardin Cardinal Gantin in May 2008.

Cardinal Saraiva Martins had been the Cardinal Deacon of Nostra Signora del Sacro Cuore.

Vallini named Cardinal Priest

Agostino Cardinal Vallini was named Cardinal-Priest of S. Pier Damiani ai Monti di S. Paolo. He had been a Cardinal-Deacon with the same title.

He remains the Vicar General of Roma {Rome}, Italy.

Cardinal Pham Ðình Tung Died

Paul Joseph Cardinal Pham Ðình Tung, Archbishop Emeritus of Hà Nôi, Viêt Nam, has died.

He was 89 years old and had served as a priest for 59 years. He also served as a bishop for 45 years and as a cardinal for 14 years.

May he rest in peace.
