Jacolin named Luçon Bishop

Bishop François Joseph Marie Jacolin, M.D.P. was named Bishop of Luçon, France.

The diocese had been vacant since the resignation of Bishop Alain Castet in October 2017.

Bishop Jacolin had been serving as Bishop of Mende.

Lagwen named Mbulu Bishop

Bishop-elect Anthony Lagwen was named Bishop of Mbulu, Tanzania.

The diocese had been vacant since then-Bishop Beatus Kinyaiya, O.F.M. Cap.Dodoma in November 2014.

Colombo named Mendoza Archbishop

Archbishop-designate Marcelo Daniel Colombo was named Archbishop of Mendoza, Argentina.

The archdiocese had been vacant since the death of Archbishop Carlos María Franzini in December 2017.

Archbishop-designate Colombo had been serving as Bishop of La Rioja.

14 New Cardinals Named

This morning the Holy Father announced 14 new Cardinals will be created on 29 June 2018.

To Be Created Cardinal:
Count: 11; Average Age: 68.6

To Be Created Cardinal (Non-Voting):
Count: 3; Average Age: 82.6

With the addition of the 14 new Cardinals on 29 June 2018, there will be 227 members total with 125 of those having the right to vote. Assuming no Cardinal elector deaths, the number of electors will return to the theoretical maximum of 120 on 1 Aug 2019.

Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, Papal Almoner, will become the second youngest Cardinal at age 54. Dieudonné Cardinal Nzapalainga, C.S.Sp., Archbishop of Bangui, Central African Republic, will remain the youngest at 51.
