Technical Note: Consistory and Conclave Pages Changing
I have made some adjustments to the website over the last few days regarding the pages for Consistories and added a new type of page for Conclaves. Both use a new internal framework that will (hopefully) allow me to easily add other type of events in the future.
One side benefit is that the new framework will allow these events to also show up on bishop pages. The new block of information will appear after the normal events and before the consecration data.
As bishop pages are updated which contain data from the new framework, that section will appear. I don't plan to do a general refresh of the bishop pages for a while (mostly because one was done a few weeks ago).
I will continue to add more conclaves and consistories to the new framework as I have time. As always, that means it will take a while :-)
An example of the new Conclave pages: Conclave 2005
An example of the new Consistory pages: Consistory 2007 (versus the old style: Consistory 1700.
An example of a "bishop" page with the new data block: Pope Benedict XVI

Sunday Appointment and the Summer Lull
You may have noticed that there was a bishop appointment today and that today is Sunday. This is quite unusual (the first one I can recall). It is not clear at the moment whether this was a one-time special event or whether Sunday appointments will become routine. I guess we'll find out over the coming months.
I should also note that since Pope Benedict XVI goes on vacation on Monday until the normal August recess, there will probably be a slow down in appointments generally. There will still be some, just not as many as usual. This is quite normal. Typically appointments return to a normal pace around mid-September.
