The Archdiocese of Ottawa and the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall were united to form the new Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.
Archbishop Terrence Thomas Prendergast, S.J. was serving as the ordinary for both jurisdictions and is now the Archbishop of the new archdiocese.
Archbishop-designate Marcel Damphousse was named the Coadjutor Archbishop.
He had been serving as Bishop of Sault Sainte Marie
