The following Cardinal-Deacons, all created in the Consistory on 21 Oct 2003, were elevated to Cardinal-Priests.

All retained the same title with the exception of Cardinal Lozano Barragán who was given the newly established title of Santa Dorotea.

Bishop Frederico Heimler, S.D.B. resigned as Bishop of Cruz Alta, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

García de la Rasilla Domínguez retired, Vizcarra Mori named Jaén en Peru Bishop

Bishop Santiago María García de la Rasilla Domínguez, S.J. retired and Bishop-elect Gilberto Alfredo Vizcarra Mori, S.J. was named Vicar Apostolic of Jaén en Peru o San Francisco Javier.

Izcalli, Mexico erected, González Ramos named Bishop

The Diocese of Izcalli, México, México was erected with territory taken from Cuautitlán.

Bishop-elect Francisco González Ramos was named its first bishop.

van Megen named Eritrea Nuncio

Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen was named Apostolic Nuncio to Eritrea in addition to his other posts.

The post had been vacant since Archbishop Leo Boccardi was named Apostolic Nuncio to Iran in July 2013.

Bumbun retired, Agus named Pontianak Archbishop

Archbishop Hieronymus Herculanus Bumbun, O.F.M. Cap. retired and Archbishop-designate Agustinus Agus was named Archbishop of Pontianak, Indonesia.

Archbishop-designate Agus had been serving as Bishop of Sintang.

Bunyamin named Bandung Bishop

Bishop-elect Antonius Subianto Bunyamin, O.S.C. was named Bishop of Bandung, Indonesia.

The diocese had been vacant since then-Bishop Johannes Maria Trilaksyanta Pujasumarta was named Archbishop of Semarang in November 2010.

Marconi named Macerata-Tolentino-Recanati-Cingoli-Treia Bishop

Bishop-elect Nazzareno Marconi was named Bishop of Macerata-Tolentino-Recanati-Cingoli-Treia, Italy.

The diocese had been vacant since the resignation of Bishop Claudio Giuliodori in February 2013.

Noel retired, Parcon named Talibon Bishop

Bishop Christian Vicente F. Noel retired and Bishop-elect Daniel Patrick Y. Parcon was named Bishop of Talibon, Philippines.

Kusy named Kaga-Bandoro Coadjutor

Bishop-elect Tadeusz Kusy, O.F.M. was named Coadjutor Bishop of Kaga-Bandoro, Central African Republic.

Bekker retired as Paramaribo Bishop

Bishop Wilhelmus Adrianus Josephus Maria de Bekker retired as Bishop of Paramaribo, Suriname, Antilles.

Okoye named Awka Auxiliary

Bishop-elect Jonas Benson Okoye was named Auxiliary Bishop of Awka, Nigeria and titular bishop of Masclianae.

Giulietti named Perugia-Città della Pieve Auxiliary

Bishop-elect Paolo Giulietti was named Auxiliary Bishop of Perugia-Città della Pieve, Italy and titular bishop of Termae Himerae.

Burger named Freiburg im Breisgau Archbishop

Archbishop-elect Stephan Burger was named Archbishop of Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany.

The archdiocese had been vacant since the retirement of Archbishop Robert Zollitsch in September 2013.

Erected: Sfântul Vasile cel Mare de Bucureşti, Frăţilă named Bishop

The Eparchy of Sfântul Vasile cel Mare de Bucureşti (Romanian), Romania was erected with territory taken from the Archdiocese of Făgăraş şi Alba Iulia.

Bishop Mihai Cătălin Frăţilă was named its first bishop. He had been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of Făgăraş şi Alba Iulia.

Chaves Pinto Filho retired, Majella Delgado named Pouso Alegre Archbishop

Archbishop Ricardo Pedro Chaves Pinto Filho, O. Praem. retired and Archbishop-designate José Luiz Majella Delgado, C.SS.R. was named Archbishop of Pouso Alegre, Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Archbishop-designate Majella Delgado had been serving as Bishop of Jataí, Goias.

and 25,000,000 visits later

The Main Website reached another milestone early yesterday (Tuesday) morning - the 25 millionth visit.

The site began long ago, you can find a history and timeline on the website.

Until the site got its own domain - on the Feast of Blessed Damien de Veuster (10 May 2002) no logs and very few stats were available. On that first day, there were 45 visits - viewing 495 pages.

Over the years the site has greatly expanded in content and in users. For example, last month there was an average of over 8,500 visits looking at over 43,000 pages each day. Over 2,000 people belong to the groups that receive emails about updates.

And yesterday, the total number of visits passed 25 million. During those visits, folks viewed 156 million pages. Not bad for a bit over 12 years of service :-)

For reference, it took 6.2 years (July 2008) for the first 10 million visits. It took only 4.2 years for the second 10 million. And now, after only 1.7 years, we are halfway to the third 10 million!
