Szoka retired, Lajolo named his successor
Edmund Casimir Cardinal Szoka has retired and Archbishop Giovanni Lajolo was named President of the Governatorate of Vatican City State and President of the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State. These changes will become effective on 15 September 2006.
